Visual Novel Recommendation

Manga Hunter here again. I read this visual novel a long time ago about two years ago and I fell in love with it. It wasn’t translated into an English Format as far as I know so i wasn’t able to play it myself, but the game’s storyline was very interesting focusing on the romance of the Three Kingdoms’ history with another race involved in this history the Maozoku, a human race with cat characteristics, but they are called by the human race with the name Jyuuza. The main heroine is Kan-U, the only female in the tribe of Maozoku. She was happy with her tribe, but when her tribe was forced to participate in the war by a general named  Sou Sou (a real general in the romance of the three kingdoms). This story is filled with heart warming romance and reveals secrets of the characters that brings the story to a new level of fantasy and understanding. This visual novel was also adapted into manga format and I believe some of the chapters are already translated. This manga series also complete. I hope you guys can give the time to either play the game, read the manga, or read the story summaries for each route of the game. The links are provided below (click on the picture for more information on the visual novel, click on the manga cover for more information on the manga, and click on the last group picture for the visual novel summaries for each route). Juuzaengi ~Engetsu Sangokuden~ by: Idea Factory

Juuzaengi ~Engetsu Sangokuden~

(image from the Visual Novel database)

Set near the end of the Han Dynasty, the Han reign is now plagued by corruption, hardship and unrest – including the rebellion movement by the Yellow Turban rebels. Far away from human conflict is an isolated community of Maozoku living deep in the mountains, whom are said to be the descendants of a youkai, Kinme, which raged the lands years ago. As a result, they’re shunned and discriminated by humans and given the derogatory name “Jyuuza” which makes a reference to the cats being the 13th animal left out of the 12 zodiac signs – despicable creatures left out by humans, animals, and the world alike.
Among the Maozoku lives Kan U, a half-human and half-Maozoku and strives to do her best to make up for her origins. She’s now a reliable pillar of support and everyone only wishes to continue to live peacefully – that is till the day Sou Sou, an ambitious general, leads his army into their hidden village on a search for the Yellow Turban rebels. Accused of hiding the rebels, they have little choice but to be pulled into an unreasonable agreement to fight for him and defeat the rebels in order to prove their innocence.
Hence, Kan U and the Maozoku are thrown into an era of conflict, and this sets the stage for Jyuuzaengi’s Three Kingdoms story.

The Juuza. That is the name given to those of the 13th Zodiac: the cat people. Seen as a vulgar and contemptuous race, they live a life of seclusion away from human eyes. However, as the end of the Han Dynasty draws near, the rise of the Yellow Scarves has thrown the land of the Three Kingdoms into turmoil. As armies converge, a young Juuza woman named Kan’u and her village are forced out of their peaceful lives as Sousou and his punitive force press their way into the village.

A new member for my collection and an anime and manga recommendation

Manga Hunter here. This time I got plenty of sleep thanks to my medicine, but I was still able to make recommendations today and show you guys the new member of my ever growing collection of plushes.

kokkuri-san

(image from Amazon.com)

This little guy is from the anime Gugure! Kokkuri-san. It is a comedy anime with a little romance, but watching this show you would start to crave for Cup Ramen courtesy of the main heroine, who can’t smile unless the time is right. Always in Chibi form. This plush is the animal form of Kokkuri-San, who is the opposite guy character for the heroine and the one who attempts to take haunt her (take care of her). This little guy was bought on Ebay for around $11.00 since I got him on sale. This brings me to the anime recommendation.

Anime

Gugure! Kokkuri-san

Kohina Ichimatsu, the self-proclaimed doll, called out the fox ghost Kokkuri-san with a suspicious incantation! But it was a story of the past where Kokkuri-san was able to answer any question you had. Nowadays, it relies on a certain search engine, but is actually bad at anything digital. He was going to possess Kohina, but got worried about her living all alone and devotes himself to do chores as if he was her mother. On top of that, the dog ghost Inugami who is infatuated with Kohina and the old good-for-nothing supernatural raccoon dog Shigaraki decide to root themselves with her as well!

As mentioned, this is a comedy series that can make a lot of people laugh and I think it is licensed currently by Sentai Filmworks, but I might need to verify that. Now for the manga recommendation.

Manga

Dr. Duo by: KINOSHITA Shigeru & Oosawa Yuusuke

dr. duo

(image from Baka-Updates)

For Shinonome Keisuke, high-school student Kotone Tasuku is the only person in the world whom he can communicate with. Once a brilliant surgeon, Shinonome passes away at a young age, only to wander the world as a ghost, a ghost that only Tasuku can see and talk to. When an accident leaves Tasuku’s hot childhood friend Takeuchi Mai’s younger brother severely injured, the only way that he can survive is if Shinonome and Tasuku work together to become the most unusual and possibly talented pair of emergency surgeons the country has ever seen!

(summary from Baka-Updates)

This manga focuses more on the emergency medical procedures that can be done and is very educational. This manga is in the comedy and supernatural genre. Supernatural since the main character is being helped by the ghost of a deceased doctor (rather perverted doctor). Besides the doctor being a little strange, he is serious when it comes to saving the lives of the people who are injured and he changes the perspective of the main character to pursue a career as a doctor. I look forward to more updates of this manga in the future.
