Chapter 18: Eve’s Sickness?

In the Earth Dome, David and the others began to walk down the hall they saw Tanpopo and Eve enter through when they left. David looked around and sighed as the others glared at him.

“Sorry, I forgot to ask them where that girl’s room is.”

“STUPID!” exclaimed Adler and stated, “Eve could be in danger with that User.”

“I told you that I felt no hostility from her.”

“Still…”

Kohaku smacked the back of Adler’s head making Adler cover his hit head and glare at Kohaku demanding why he was hit.

“You were getting annoying.”

“JERK!”

David rubbed his chin and stated, “I’m sure the people here know where Tanpopo stays in.” Kale nodded and immediately went to the closes person, a woman, asking the whereabouts of Tanpopo. The others were afraid that the people in the Dome would feel intimidated by Kale, since his presence was mostly hostile at times, but to their surprise, the first person Kale asked gave directions to Tanpopo’s room, while also handing him a piece of paper.

Kale walked up to the others and stated, “I found out where she stays here. She should be near the announcement booth.”

David smiled saying, “Good work, Kale. So what is that paper that woman gave you?” Kale showed the paper saying, “It has her name and a room number.” The others began to chuckle, while Kale had a look of confusion in his face.

“Who knew you could be a lady killer?”

Kale sighed stuffing the paper in his pocket and stated, “I have no interest this.”

“Then why are you keeping the paper?”

“It would be rude to throw it away.”

David chuckled and then began to lead the others to where Tanpopo was supposed to be.

Meanwhile, Tanpopo had finally finished the story to Eve and was smiling asking how Eve liked the story. Eve smiled stating, “It was a lovely story.” Eve felt a stabbing pain in her stomach area and cringed.

“Are you OK, Eve?” asked Tanpopo with concern in her face.

“I am fine,” remarked Eve, but cringed again when pain radiated in her stomach area.

“You’re not fine,” stated Tanpopo and then stood up heading to her door saying, “I’m going to go get Kenji.”

“Why Kenji?”

“He’s a doctor here.”

“Doctor, but I thought he was the retriever for survivors.”

“He’s that too, but mostly a doctor,” stated Tanpopo and then opened the door adding, “You lie down there, while I get Kenji. Don’t move too much.” Eve nodded watching as Tanpopo closed the door behind her.

Eve cradled her stomach wondering if she had truly eaten something that would upset her stomach.

On the other hand, Kenji was walking down the hall with a pail filled with medical supplies. When he was not out looking for survivors, he was in the dome treating the people of the Dome with his medical knowledge. To his relief, most of the people were never gravely ill, but besides treating the people, he also listened to their worries like a therapist and through this, he was also able to gain inside knowledge of the people and report it to Theo when needed. If course, he kept his reporting a secret from the people.

Currently, Kenji had finished his rounds in record time and was on his way back to his room to rest, but as he walked, he thought about the girl, Eve. Just like Theo said, he was suspicious of her the moment he saw her and his suspicions grew as he watched her reactions when Users were mentioned. He guessed that she might be a User too, but it was a question of why she would hide it and why her companions were willing to hide it. He planned to figure out everything about her.

Kenji snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the familiar voice of Tanpopo calling to him. Kenji glanced back and indeed did see Tanpopo running to him, but he saw concern in her face, so he stopped in his tracks waiting for her to reach him.

The moment Tanpopo was in front of him, he asked what was wrong and Tanpopo then immediately grabbed his hand saying, “Please have a look at Eve.”

“Eve, is she hurt?”

“I think so. Her stomach is hurting a lot.”

“I’ll go check on her.”

Tanpopo began to walk with Kenji back to her room, but on the way, they ran into David and the others.

David immediately noticed Tanpopo and asked, “Weren’t you supposed to be with Eve?”

Tanpopo nodded gripping Kenji’s hand and stated, “She’s in my room right now resting. I just left to go get Kenji to treat her.”

“Treat her? Is she sick?” asked Adler in a panic. Tanpopo nodded with worry in her face.

Kenji looked at the group saying, “I’m heading there to treat her now. You are welcomed to join me.”

They nodded and began to walk toward Tanpopo’s room. They all had the same thoughts as they got closer to the room: I hope Eve is OK.

They suddenly heard Eve scream from within the room and immediately rushed into the room knocking down the door.

“EVE?”

They all saw Eve with her legs pulled to her chest with tears in her eyes.

“Are you OK, Eve?” asked David, immediately running to her side. Eve shook her head with tears running down her cheeks.

“I think I’m dying,” whimpered Eve.

“Dying? Why would you say that?”

Eve whimpered and then looked down at the bed. David looked at the bed and saw blood stains. David turned pale and then looked at Eve asking, “Is that your blood?”

Eve nodded saying, “It came from between my legs. I must be dying.” David turned red and placed a blanket over her shoulder.

“Eve, has anyone ever given you the talk?”

“The talk, what’s that?”

David sighed and looked at his companions, who were just as red as him, and asked, “Do any of you know how to give the talk?” They all shook their heads, while Kenji chuckled and Tanpopo was asking what the talk was.

Kenji patted Tanpopo’s head saying that he would tell her when she was older and then stood by the bed saying, “I’ll explain it to her, so you boys and Tanpopo leave the room.”

“Why should we leave?”

“I do have to clean the blood and give her a pad.”

David instantly turned red and practically began to push the others out.

When they were out of the room, Kenji looked at Eve with a smile and stated, “So where will I begin?”
