Chapter 75: A Stalker problem…Kai’s room is decided?

Let me get this straight, Kai and I were searching for an empty room for him, but it turned out the headmaster used a spell to trap the people in the dorm in their assigned rooms, so Kai and I had to go to each room and had a time limit of interaction with them before we were forced out. In room ten, Montgomery was being attacked by a creature called a Tamovin that is known for stalking a person until they died. We managed to get Montgomery out of his room because of a light that came out of me (not sure what talent was responsible for that), but now Kai and I learned that Montgomery has been followed by this creature since he was young. Seriously, what is going on?

“When you say young about how young?” asked Kai with crossed arms. I swear he looks like an interrogating police officer. Montgomery is not the culprit, he is a victim.

“I was five when it started stalking me.”

Five, that is pretty young.

“Eleanor and I were having a hard time after our mother died, so I stole from other stores to sell in the black market to get some money to buy food for us to live. I found this store that seemed rich, but when I went inside, there was nothing…except for that monster that latched itself onto me.”

“So you found its nest?”

Montgomery nodded.

For your information, a Tamovin creates a nest when it hasn’t found its target and stays in the nest until a poor soul finds it and then the Tamovin will attach itself to that target. Thus the creation of a stalker in the Tamovin sense.

“It continued to follow me since that day…it only attacked me once when I was seven, but then kept a distance when Eleanor and I were finally adopted, but it continued to follow me. Today was the second time it attacked and I don’t know why.”

Kai rubbed his chin and stated, “This is strange. A Tamovin, once it attacks, will aim to kill. I wonder why you survived the first attack.”

Montgomery was silent before facing me with a smile…why is he facing me?

“It was because of Laveda. The Tamovin drained my energy when it attacked, but my strength returned when Laveda gave me bread, water, and an apron to stay warm. She truly saved my life.”

Seriously? So my interference saved Montgomery’s life, which is the reason why he is in this time line. I really interfered, but I don’t feel bad, since I got to meet a nice guy like him.

“I’m glad I helped you, but do you have any idea how to get rid of this thing, besides you dying?” I asked. I really wanted to get this thing away from Montgomery.

Montgomery shook his head and stated, “I searched for a solution, but found none and I didn’t have the heart to tell Eleanor and my father about the Tamovin either.”

This is really troubling.

I wanted to say something, but Kai suddenly stated, “Considering that the Tamovin is attacking you again, we better find one of the teachers to report this to the headmaster.”

“The headmaster?” Montgomery and I said at the same time. We almost sounded alike there.

“The headmaster shut these rooms and it was strong enough to even imprison that Tamovin in the room, so the headmaster might have a spell to destroy it.”

“That’s a really good idea,” I chirped. Montgomery looked relieved too. Hold it…we still need to locate a teacher and now that I think about it…the headmaster is a mega jerk who even threatened Kai and me with expulsion if we didn’t do well in this experiment.

“Which room holds a teacher?”

“We could return downstairs where Professor Tomayo was last seen.”

“But knowing the headmaster, he might have already imprisoned him in a room,” I pointed out with a frown. The headmaster is a jerk after all.

Kai frowned and stated, “Then I guess we continue to search the rooms until we see a teacher.”

Montgomery and I nodded in agreement.

We headed toward door number eleven. Now that I think about it, considering the pattern, behind number door eleven should be…just as I thought. The moment I opened the door, I saw Sensei surrounded by water. It looks like he was ready to attack the door, but immediately held back when he saw me, Kai, and Montgomery. The water seemed to evaporate as Sensei walked to us in a quick haste.

“Laveda, are you all right?”

I nodded, but he didn’t even greet Montgomery and Kai.

“Oh, I see Montgomery and Simon are with you.”

Ah, he noticed them. That’s good.

Sensei suddenly grabbed my shoulders with a somewhat troubled look…actually he looks really troubled.

“The headmaster placed a curse in my room, so I can’t leave, but…”

“Don’t worry, I am aware and I will try to figure out how to get you guys out when I can, but I have a really big problem right now myself.”

“Problem? What problem?”

I looked toward Montgomery and stated, “Montgomery is being stalked by a Tamovin.”

“A Tamovin?”

I nodded and added, “Thanks to that spell the headmaster placed on Montgomery’s room, we managed to trap it for now in that room, but I don’t know how long that spell will hold and Montgomery could die the next time it attacks, so we have to get rid of it as soon as possible. Is there any way to get the headmaster back here fast?”

Sensei looked troubled as he said, “I’m sorry, but I don’t know how to…”

Kai, Montgomery, and I were suddenly dragged out of the room and the door slammed in front of Sensei…AT LEAST LET HIM FINISH HIS SENTENCE DARN IT! I seriously want to beat that blasted headmaster.

“Looks like Professor Bosatsu can’t contact the headmaster,” stated Kai with crossed arms. I could only sigh and wonder if I should even bother to check the other rooms. I mean the teachers can’t leave the rooms too, so how can they contact the headmaster?

I couldn’t help, but mutter, “I really hate the headmaster.”

“Well I hate you too.”

KYAHHH! When did the headmaster appear behind us? Look, even Kai and Montgomery are shocked.

“When did you get here?”

“I have been here the whole time.”

“LIAR!”

I wasn’t the only one who yelled that out. The headmaster shrugged saying, “Now, now, let’s not sweat such trivial things. Tell me why you needed me.”

So he really was lying about being there the whole time.

“I want you to remove the spell you placed on the rooms.”

“I won’t.”

“WHY?”

“Don’t feel like it.”

“MEANIE!”

“Now, now, was there anything else you needed?”

I looked at Montgomery and then back at the headmaster saying, “Can you get rid of the Tamovin stalking Montgomery? It is trapped for now in Montgomery’s room, but when it comes out, it might kill Montgomery this time.”

The headmaster rubbed his chin and then stated, “The best way to get rid of it is to make it obey you.”

“…Huh?”

“Don’t you know Tamovin are looking for a master. That’s why they stalk victims. They also don’t like to be ignored.”

…SERIOUSLY? I read the books about these creatures and it never mentioned about looking for a master.

“I never heard of such a thing,” stated Kai. See, even he has never heard of such information.

“Believe me or don’t believe me, but I can tell you this: my spell won’t hold it for long and when it gets out, it will aim for Montgomery. I lack light users in this Academy, so please save his life.”

The headmaster then vanished before us…what is his talent anyway? Actually, WHY WON’T HE HELP US MORE INSTEAD OF RUNNING AWAY!

“Should we try making it obey?” asked Montgomery with his form slightly shaking. He must be scared and I don’t blame him.

“Let’s try it…LOOK OUT!”

Kai suddenly tackled me and Montgomery to the side as the familiar black form of the Tamovin rushed pass us. It already escaped? It must be pretty strong.

The Tamovin screeched as it rushed back at us.

“GO AWAY!” I screamed as I kicked it. Oh dear, it flew again. Is it weak or strong? I can’t tell.

Kai frowned as he suddenly picked me up and dragged Montgomery down the hall toward room twelve. Why is he headed to another room?

“Simon, why are we…?”

“It will keep us safe for a short while,” Kai answered quickly. I see…because of the spell. Very smart.

Kai practically kicked open the door as he rushed in. He slammed the door closed as the Tamovin collided into the door from the outside. Looks like it can’t get in.

“Oh, you finally reached my room.”

“Huh?”

We looked over our shoulder and saw Kori…drinking tea calmly. He looks too relaxed.

“This is your room?” I asked. Kori nodded placing the teacup down and then stated, “I chose this room myself. The spell placed on this room is also quite convenient in keeping noise out.”

He seriously doesn’t look troubled at all…it kind of pisses me off.

I wanted to say something, but Kai beat me to it when he yelled, “Why are you just relaxing in this room?”

“Now, now, I was just relaxing to save my energy, your…oh, seems like we have an extra. When did he get out of his room?” Kori stated as he directed his gaze at Montgomery. Montgomery only bowed saying, “I was only able to get out thanks to Simon and Laveda.”

“I see,” stated Kori and then looked at Kai.

“So SIMON why were you in such a rush to get into this room? I am pretty sure it was not to see my charming face.”

Before any of us could answer, the door was shoved open and the Tamovin crawled in screeching. It broke through the spell? THAT THING IS WAY TOO STRONG! I kicked it to get it away…it flew again. I really am confused about its strength.

Kai lifted me up again and ran to Kori’s side. Hold on…Kai only grabbed me! What about Montgomery? Oh no, Montgomery was left behind and the Tamovin is approaching him. The tentacles seem to be growing. SCARY!

“Montgomery, run away!” I called, but Montgomery seemed to be frozen in fear. Montgomery, you have to move.

“Oh by the way, his majesty’s room is number fifteen.”

“NOT A GOOD TIME!”

Kori is just too relaxed.
