Manga Recommendations VI and Happy Halloween!

Manga Hunter here! Today is Halloween and so I decided to recommend manga with a little bit on the dark side and some comedy…mostly comedy.

Doronkyu by: YOSHIMURA Kai

Sakura Kaho is a high school student who can see ghosts and monsters. Due to that and her scaredy-cat personality, she is often literally loved and stalked by these entities, much to her terror and her fearless friend Aki’s entertainment.

(summary from Baka-Updates)

This is a manga I read just last year. All the ghosts aren’t scary. They are pretty funny, especially when they try to sow their affections to the main character girl.

Dokuhime by: MIHARA Mitsukazu

It starts with poisonous herbs under the cradle. Then under the sheets. And inside the clothes. Even mixed in the milk that they feed the newborn. This way the child gradually gets used to poisons and becomes the perfect assassination tool – the “Poison Princess” whose every kiss, tear, and even touch bring death. Her only chance of survival is to fulfill her duty as an assassin and find a way to live on in the enemy land she is sent to…if her heart is strong enough.

(summary from Aerandria Scans)

I admit that I wasn’t into it when I read the first chapter, but after chapter one, the main plot shows. Warning: it is a tragedy, but there is a bit of happiness in it, especially when you consider the feelings of the main character girl.

Enigma by: Sakaki Kenji

Haiba Sumio is a student at a Tokyo High School with an interesting ability… He occasionally falls asleep and wakes up with premonitions of the future written out on his “Dream Diary”. With this ability, Sumio helps out people in trouble before anything bad happens, until one day when his peaceful life completely changes.

(summary from Baka-Updates)

This was a manga I read a long time ago. It’s a play or die situation manga and it reminds of Saw, if you know what I mean. Chances are you people might enjoy this.

Those are my manga recommendations for Halloween today. As always, please support the creators of these works and the translators when you can. Happy Halloween.

Update!

Precious Stone and I’m the Villainous’ Little Sister who doesn’t even matter, so don’t give me a disaster flag too! have been updated for today. I won’t give too much detail right now since I am pretty tired. I have work in the morning, so I better sleep soon.

I’m the Villainous’ Little Sister who doesn’t even matter, so don’t give me a disaster flag too!

Chapter 17: I’m going to climb a mountain!

Chapter 9: Arrival in Azseldo Kingdom

Visual Novel and Manga recommendation

Manga Hunter here. I admit that this recommendation is something I never played personally, but I read the story routes, so I get the basic gist of it. This is a visual novel, so it is a game and if it ever does get licensed or translated into English, I am sure to play it.

Visual Novel

Sangoku Rensenki ~Otome no Heihou!~ by: Daisy2

(image from the Visual Novel Database)

Yamada Hana is just an average student. One day, when she reads a book about the Romance of Three Kingdoms, she is suddenly surrounded by a flash of light and she loses consciousness… When she wakes up, she finds herself in a forest. A man appears in front of her, and she is at a loss of what to do. The man’s name is Koumei and she meets another person called Gentoku, but she is mistaken for a disciple of Koumei’s and ordered to command an army and take part in a battle… She doesn’t know what to do, but somehow she wins the battle…

(summary from the Visual Novel Database)

I only read the story routes and the summary and I have to admit that I enjoyed it very much to the point I wanted to play it (too bad it’s not in English). This has a girl travel to the past of the Three Kingdoms and gives off a little of a Fushigi Yuugi feel with the girl being a little smarter. This was made into a manga, but it is not completed translated, but I will recommend it as well, since it was a pretty good read, but I do hope for more translations.

Sangoku Rensenki - Otome no Heihou! manga

(image from Baka-Updates)

Yamada Hana, a high school girl, woke up and found herself in a strange land after being enveloped by a bright light that came out from a mysterious book. There, Hana met a young man named Gentoku, and ended up staying with him and his army as “Koumei’s disciple”…

(summary from Iskultrip Scans)

As mentioned, this manga is based off of a visual novel of the same name. I just really hope there are more translations.

Those are my recommendations, so as always please support the creators of these works and the translators when you can.

Manga Recommendations V

Manga Hunter here! I am making more manga recommendations. These have something to do with the supernatural, so you guys who love supernatural will enjoy them and they are completely scanned and translated.

Animal Sense by: Maekawa Takeshi

 animal sense

(image from Baka-Updates)

High-school student Hoshino Fuzuki once experienced a weird phenomenon when she was in 3rd grade. Now, it has come up again…
She can ‘get into’ an animal, thus gaining the ability to see the world from its viewpoint. Hoshino soon realizes that her ‘animal sense’ is not limited to sight. What is this power? What will she do with it?

(summary from Baka-Updates)

This is a manga I read in the beginning of college. At the time, one of my pets was sick, so I was pretty depressed and read manga to cheer myself up. I found this one by pure chance and even though I was disappointed it was short, I still enjoyed it and it managed to cheer me up during my depression.

Monochrome Myst by: Shiina You

Angelica North has lost her parents in a fire accident. She blames herself for their deaths, and this has driven her to darkness. Sylph Rave is an ‘occult writer’ who is rumored to see ghosts. These two strange, rumored characters are driven by fate to meet. How will Sylph help Angelica? What other mysterious things will haunt our troubled heroine?

(summary from Baka-Updates)

I read this manga in college as well and it was during the time when I was into dark manga. I say dark manga, but this manga is a happy one; and I have to admit that the main characters though dumb at times, grew on me, especially with their back stories.

Those are my recommendations and I hope you guys can enjoy them too; and as always please support the creators of these works and the translators when you can.

Recently Got Into XX

Manga Hunter here! I have recently gotten into two other light novels that I found by chance.

Note: Not many chapters so far, but the few chapters were intriguing.

The Successful Business of a Slave Career Planner by: Richard Roe

Career Consultant. It was a profession where they perform various consultations for a person in hope of getting a job.

Mitsuji Toshiki, a young man from modern Japan, had the skills and qualifications to be a career consultant. He was teleported to another world before he knew it and became an apprentice to a slave merchant.

Toshiki was determined to redo his life one more time when he realized that he was teleported to another world.

He had the skill to judge and see through a person’s suitable character, as he skillfully rose in fame in this other world.

(summary from Moon Bunny Café)

There isn’t much to explain, except that it is another reincarnation story and that there are some RPG qualities. It seems to be a laid back story so far, but as long as the story has an interesting plot then I am hooked.

LV999 Villager by: Hoshitsuki Kitten

In this world, the concept of 『Level』 exists.

Other than those who are living as a monster slayer, at the most, ordinary peoples’ 『Level』 is between 1 to 5.

Because of that, those who work as monster slayers are special people, bestowed by the Gods a special 『Job』.

There are eight special 『Jobs』, which have battle ability. 【Warrior】, 【Monk】, 【Priest】, 【Wizard】, 【Thief】, 【Merchant】, 【Hunter】, and 【Shaman】.

There are also three special roles that differentiate from the eight battle classes. 【Nobility】, 【Hero】, and 【Magi】.

However, within the large population only a few earned those blessings. At most, all are 【Villagers】, which is the lowest and weakest, tasked with daily duties.

A 【Villager】 doesn’t have the ability to fight; trying to defeat a monster is suicide.

One day, a two years old child noticed something.

If you defeat a monster, you can be rich.

(summary from Novel Updates)

This light novel only has two updates, but the premise was pretty interesting and funny, especially how the main character thinks when fighting monsters. I;m not sure if this is really a reincarnation story or not, but only time will tell.

Those are the light novels and I hope you guys enjoy them too; and as usual please support the creators of the work and the translators when you can.
