Manga Hunter here once again to make Anime recommendations!

Agatha Christie no Meitantei Poirot to Marple

Young Mabel West is the daughter of mystery writer Raymond West, who wants her to lead a normal life. Rebelling against this, Mabel wants to be a great detective, and sets out for London to become assistant to none other than Hercule Poirot, the great Belgian detective who resides there. She finally wins the reluctant approval of her father, and embarks on an exciting life of mystery and suspense—his only demand being that she occasionally spend some time with her great-aunt, Jane Marple, in the small village of St. Mary Mead.

(summary from MyAnimeList)

Remember those mystery novels from the past like Sherlock Holmes? Well, this anime turns two of those mystery novels into one anime series. I thought it would be boring at first, but this new girl character makes the story interesting and she works with two detectives: Marple and Poirot. Even if you haven’t read their novels, this anime is easy to follow and enjoyable.

Hanasakeru Seishounen

A very powerful industrialist directs his daughter to pick a husband from three candidates he has chosen for her. They are to come into her life, and their uniqueness would cause her to recognize them immediately. All three of the candidates are outstanding. Well, it’s actually four… The story evolves along the lines of a power political mystery involving a small middle eastern country.

(summary from MyAnimeList)

Another reverse harem anime, but it seems to focus more on the political mystery, which is also interesting. There is action and of course romance. I also like how the main girl character isn’t a damsel in distress and can think on the spot.

Those are my anime recommendations and as always, please support the creators of these works and the translators when you can.

Visual Novel Recommendation

Manga Hunter here again! I am making another visual novel recommendation.

Princess Arthur by: Otomate & Idea Factory

princess arthur

(image from the Visual Novel Database)

A king has left the world. In this country where for generations the king has been decided by a holy sword, a ceremony would be held to select the new king. Many people take the challenge — only one person was able to pull out the sword. Neither a knight nor royalty, the person was an ordinary girl. Persuaded by the legendary magician Merlin, the girl begins to live as the king without understanding anything. It is there that she meets the Knights of the Round Table. The girl stands on a battlefield for the first time in her life. Weeping as she holds the holy sword in her hand, wondering why she was chosen. The girl knows love. Even as several threads of fate entwine around and trifle with her, she will continue to love only one. And so, the girl takes the sword in her hand. To cut open fate for the one she loves.

(summary from the Visual Novel Database)

I admit that I never played this game, but I know the story and I find it quite the unique twist on the King Arthur tale. I am one of those people who like retellings of the King Arthur tales and the fact that a girl took his role in the game makes it more enjoyable for me and there are many love interests (knights) to go after with their own story. I also like the twist in the hidden extra chapter of this game.

If you guys want to read the arcs of the characters for the game then please click on the picture below.

That’s the visual novel recommendation for today and as always, please support the creators of the game and the one who made the summary on their site.

Manga Recommendations XI

Manga Hunter here! I am making more manga recommendations since I am feeling a whole lot better compared to yesterday.

Katana by: Kamata Kimiko

katana

(image from Baka-Updates)

A unique owner with an unusual talent, a boy is able to see the Katana’s true form! Behold the strange tales of a sword-sharpening master!

(summary from Baka-Updates)

I find this manga so adorable and exciting. It is almost like seeing ghosts, but this boy can affect these spirits by sharpening or cleaning these blades. The main character also has a lovable character and I like how this manga doesn’t focus on romance, but more on the story of the blades that the boy takes care of. He can also get possessed at times, but nothing really bad happens in my point of view.

Meiji Hiiro Kitan by: Rikachi

 meiji hiiro kitan

(image from Baka-Updates)

It’s the middle of the Meiji Era and our heroine, the little Suzu, is sold to the red lights district. However, the rich heir of a dry goods store Tsugaru buys her freedom for no apparent reason. She is deeply grateful for being saved, but she doesn’t understand why he paid so much money for her and the only explanation he offers is “we have a bond.” She tries to unravel the mystery of his feelings and gradually grows from a little girl to a young woman, always by his side. A gentle and slow-paced love story set in the Meiji Era.

(summary from Aerandria Scans)

Now this one has a little bit of mystery and some romance, but the romance isn’t revealed too much since the main character girl is too young. The main character guy acts a little like a detective since he searches for missing objects, while running a store. There is drama, but also comedy, especially with the interaction between the main character guy and the main character girl. The manga is complete, but there is a sequel where the girl is older.

Those are my manga recommendations for now and as always, please support the creators of these works and the translators when you can.
